I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am nobody of consequence. I vote in most elections. I pay my taxes. I live a fairly uneventful life. I spend most of my time doing menial tasks; I take care of my home and my family. I love my family. I love people and animals. I love the outdoors and gardening. I love to read and draw. I sing to myself most days, and talk to myself everyday. I am my worst enemy and my best friend.
I believe the world is a beautiful place, but people can be unpredictable and politics can have huge impacts that come in slow increments or slam into us like a sledgehammer. For a long time I have been observing the happenings in the political arena with a feeling of impending doom. My first instinct was flight (just ignore it and maybe it will go away). I finally convinced myself that I can have an impact. I truly believe the US is worth fighting for. The feeling that I should do something has been growing at an accelerated rate due to the alarming developments in Washington. That even the smallest thing could make a difference. But what could I do? How could I even hope to make an impact? Who would listen to me?
So here we are. I have written to my Republican congressman. I have been researching and paying attention. Now I have started a Forum. I was inspired by Thomas Paine's Common Sense. Getting the word out about my concerns about the chaos in Washington and maybe helping to inform and educate each other.
