2nd Letter to my Congressman

I am writing to you to urge you and your fellow congressmen to remind the President that the Federal Government is not a business and that investing in the American people is not waste, fraud or abuse.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) seems to be destroying the very things that protect our country and make us safe. Downsizing the EPA, firing of Inspectors General, firings at the VA, gutting the FAA then scrambling to find air traffic controllers, firing the Ebola mitigation team, firings at NNSA of specialists in charge of guarding and maintaining our nuclear warheads, I think you get the idea. This does not bode well for the safety and security of our great country.
I am also appalled and disgusted by the obvious lack of professionalism that is being displayed by the President and Elon Musk. Trolling and posting threats and inappropriate material (e.g. Trump Gaza, “Long Live the King”, Spongebob Squarepants-themed meme, threats of firing, etc.) on social media is embarrassing and immature. The President represents all of the American people. Elon Musk’s ridiculous and showboating antics are unprofessional and if he is what the White House profess him to be (an unpaid special government employee) he should still be held to the same high standards of behavior as any government employee.
The President seems to think that when he was elected the people gave him a mandate to destroy the very things that the framers described as protections in the Preamble of the Constitution;
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
I’ll start with domestic Tranquility or the safety and security at home (America):
The President and Republicans vilification of the Democrats has to stop. I understand that republicans do it as a political tool to win elections and get people to align with their agendas but a third of America identify themselves as Democrat and almost forty percent identify as Independent. This divisive language (Radical Left lunatics, radical left, Communist left, Rinos, never Trumpers, etc…) is not insuring domestic tranquility it is creating anger, hate and division.
The President of the United States of America represent all the people not just the ones that belong to his political party. He took an oath to the Constitution. Where is the accountability in Government?
In the next part of the Preamble: promote the general Welfare (the public health and safety):
The safety and public health of America are being undermined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy Jr. He is spreading misinformation about a measles outbreak in Texas (saying at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the hospitalizations of 18 patients are for quarantine when a hospital representative said they are all for respiratory illness). Also, this week he has postponed an important meeting at the CDC; a meeting with the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The meeting was to discuss updated immunization recommendations for 10 infectious diseases, including COVID-19, Mpox and influenza. And He canceled an FDA meeting with the members of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee to determine which strains of the flu vaccine will be included in next seasons Flu vaccine.
From FDA website about the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee: The Committee reviews and evaluates data concerning the safety, effectiveness, and appropriate use of vaccines and related biological products which are intended for use in the prevention, treatment, or diagnosis of human diseases, and, as required, any other products for which the Food and Drug Administration has regulatory responsibility.
The importance of our public health and safety depends on the expertise of professionals in the healthcare field who are fact based and credentialed. RFK Jr. is not a medical professional and he seems to using the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) to promote his own convoluted and questionable beliefs.
I would also like to say that Ukraine deserves our support and President Trump has been very disrespectful to Ukraine by calling President Zelensky a dictator and minimizing the obvious aggression of Russia’s invasion on a sovereign country.
At the Friday meeting in the Oval office, President Trump was ranting at President Zelensky. It is not unreasonable for President Zelensky to ask for security assurances before signing a mineral deal with the U.S. before negotiations for a peace deal. Russia has proved that they cannot be trusted in peace negotiations; Ukraine has been burned multiple times from Russia’s broken promises. Plus, Trump defending Russia, makes the U.S. look weak and attacking President Zelensky in front of the Press shows Trump’s diplomacy is lacking. America is watching, the World is watching.
It should also be said, that Trump forcing a mineral deal with Ukraine in exchange for support amounts to extortion.
I would like to add that I am not affiliated with any political party and that I vote for the most qualified and authentic candidates. I have voted for Republicans and Democrats alike.
